History

The beginning

Towards year 44 d.C., Santiago the Greater one, son of Zebedeo of Galilea, was decapitated by Herodes Agripa being the first apostle who dies martyred because of his faith. According to a document known like Epistle of Leon Pope, the seven disciples of the Apostle took the corpse until the port of Jope, where, miraculously, it appeared a boat and they sailed during seven days, under divine direction, they reached a place called Iria in the Galician coast. When they touched down land, Santiago's body rise in the air disappearing in the direction of the sun. The disciples, very disconsolate, and they passed a lot of problems in their search, until finally they found the tomb of the Apostle under a marble monument. To the time, three of the disciples, had to exterminate, with the aid of Santiago, a great Dragoon in the place that today is known as the Holy Mount.
