The credential is a species of safe-conduct of the pilgrim.
It is personalize and given only to that persons that peregrinate to Santiago
on foot, by bicycle or by horse. It is obtained through the Associations
of Friends of the Way of Santiago, or in the place where one begins.
Its delivery is instantaneous and only the D.N.I (Identity card) is needed.
This document is essential to be able to accede to the refugees or special
lodgings for pilgrims, whenever there is place. And it is in these refugees
where the Credential is sealed to give testimony of the passage of the pilgrim.
Also it serves to obtain special discounts in museums, monasteries and in
some centers of leisure.

Roncesvalles it is necessary to take a letter of presentation
of the parish priest or from some cultural Association or of the City council of origin,
to give faith of the identity of the applicant and the veracity of its intention.
In most of the sites they give it gratuitously and in others they cost is about 25 or 50 pesetas.
