The pilgrim leaves Santo Domingo by the bridge that constructed the Saint on the Oja River and follows by the highway in the direction of the west. In a moment a track of earth is taken parallel to N-120, that avoids the risks of the traffic and continue like this until the locality of Grañón.
Crossing wheat fields, always closely to the familiar road and to one hour of way of Grañón is Redecilla del Camino, first town of the province of Burgos that is crossed throughout its high street. Inevitably, from Redecilla, the pilgrim will have to cross two kilometers that separate this population of Castildelgado by asphalt.
Passed the gas station, it is necessary to walk about 900 meters of parallel track to the highway, to take a deflection that takes to Viloria de la Rioja, cradle of Santo Domingo de la Calzada.
A local highway leads again to the layout of N-120, where a footpath, specially designed for the pilgrims, runs next to this route by Villamayor del Rio and until the important village of Belorado, that it is to two hours of way.
