It is the solitude that will accompany to the pilgrim during this stage of 24 kilometers. The 17 first lack town and the straight footpath towards Calzadilla becomes endless.
Passed the Carrión River and leaving back the Monastery of San Zoilo through the local highway that goes to Villotilla, it is arrived at kilometer 5,6, by a hoisted zone that in the proximity hides the rest of the abbey of Benevívere. Before arriving at this place two crossroads are crossed: the one that goes to Saldaña and the one of the Highway N-120, this last one specially dangerous because of its abundant circulation. From the indicated point previously, an endless stony way will be the companion during the three next hours.
The consolation arrives when finally the tower of the cemetery of Calzadilla of Cueza is visible. Good it is to know that, at least, this layout agrees totally with the old medieval route. The town is crossed by the street of sirga that is the way, ending at the highway N-120, where a parallel footpath to this highway is taken and that practically does not give in until the end of the stage in Lédigos.
In the course of this last section we passed by the great hospital and abbey of the Order of Santiago called "De las tiendas".
A little later and in a small area of rest, a landmark indicates half of the way between Roncesvalles and Santiago.
