It changes the panorama and the horizon for the pilgrim, the deserts and the long plains that have accompanied to him until the moment, open the way to a mountainous profile: the mounts of Leon. We leave the monumental Astorga, by the highway of Castrillo de los Polvazares.
After passing the hermitage of Acce Homo and crossing the ring road by a bridge, it begins a parallel track to the highway of local or regional importance, that leads to Murias de Rechivaldo, locality located to about 5 kilometers of the exit.
The way runs by the back of the town and follows in straight line, initiating a smooth ascent but constant always by wide forest tracks, until the crossing of Santa Catalina de Somoza, where the way and highway of local or regional importance almost are confused.
In straight line and with the sight put in the tips of the mountains the pilgrim arrives at Santa Catalina de Somoza and to the Ganso, from where one hour and average separates to us of the end of the stage, always in ascent and accompanied by Holm oaks and oaks and some that another flock of ewes.
Shortly before arriving at Rabanal del Camino, a centenary oak will invite to us to rest under its shade, as therefore they did the many thousands of pilgrims that went before.
