There are 8 kilometers between Molinaseca to Ponferrada that run by the valley of the Bierzo. The first 4 are by highway and shortly before arriving at the population of Campo, it is possible to be continued by the same one via or to take a way to the left, that journey it is between culture fields, both alternatives will take to the Capital of the Bierzo.

It is acceded to the city after crossing the bridge on the Boeza River and the channels of the railroad. The familiar arrows leads to the pilgrim by the old streets of the population, until the walls of the famous castle of Temple, where, closely together, is the refuge for the pilgrims. The traveling leaves Ponferrada, after crossing the bridge on the Sil River. The present layout does not follow the old one of the highway N-VI, and avoids the industrial zones turning aside itself to the northwest towards the small localities of Columbrianos and Fuentes Navas. This deflection goes by the stroll of the Huertas de Sacramento, takes a small highway to the right and to five hundred meters it twists to the left passing by a small hermitage, leaving a cruise, crossing a tunnel under the railcar A-6 and surrounding a small cemetery and church, before reaching the population of Columbrianos.

The way follows rectum towards Fuentes Nuevas, that is to 2,8 kilometers. A cruise to the entrance receives to the pilgrim, it is crossed by the Real street and after leaving the cemetery to the right it is continued until Camponaraya, also very next population, that the pilgrim leaves after crossing over the Naraya River.

Shortly after surpassing this last population, the reference is the warehouses of the Cooperative of the Bierzo, where a earth track is taken to the left that again crosses the railcar A-6 and after a hill the way runs between pleasant fields of grapevine until the capital of sour cherries: Cacabelos.

The street of the pilgrims that finalizes in the stone bridge on the Cúa River crosses Cacabelos and after the traveling can appreciate to the right the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Angustias, where recently a precious refuge of pilgrims has been constructed.

The way follows rectum by the border of the N-VI in ascent until the village of Pieros. About 2 kilometers of this small municipality it is necessary to take a dirt road that will lead us until the end of the stage between vines and fields, that it gives access to Villafranca del Bierzo by the east and being the municipal refuge the first building that the pilgrim will find.
