The way surrounds the monastery of Santa Maria the Real and takes a lofty street in the direction of the hill from Peñaescalera.
Once surpassed a small pass between the hills, that gives shadow to Nájera in the afternoons of summer, the pilgrim can see the great spaces that offer the Riojan plains. The traveler walks by a concentration tracks and in to 3,5 kilometers, a small highway of local or regional importance takes until Azofra.
The pilgrim crosses by its high street and at the exit of the village it is taken a dirt road to the left that leads towards Cirueña, small population that is to two hours of way by an extensive valley, that finish with an ascent to the hills of the Degollada.
Already in Cirueña and almost without entering in the inner city, a local highway to the right it is taken that goes to Santo Domingo de la Calzada, but it immediately give ins by a branch of earth to the left, well signaled.
A smooth and comfortable slope takes until the city, Santo Domingo de la Calzada "where the hen sang after had been roasted".
